Bonita Speech Services is a private practice offering evidence-based teletherapy and in-home services. We specialize in pediatric speech sound disorders, literacy disorders, myofunctional therapy for children and adults, and accent modification/ American English Pronunciation Training. 

 

Always utilizing evidence-based practice, my passion is to provide you the most effective care for all your speech and communication needs.

About Me

    Katarina is a Speech-Language Pathologist,  Myofunctional Therapist, and the founder and director of Bonita Speech Services- a private practice providing in-home, virtual, or in-school services specializing in treatments of Orofacial Myofuctional Disorders across the lifespan, Speech Sound Disorders, and Early Language and Literacy Disorders in Bonita, Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach, and San Ysidro, CA.

    Katarina holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) awarded by American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and California License awarded by California Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Dispenser Board. In addition, Katarina took extra course work specifically tailored to the population with craniofacial anomalies and atypical craniofacial development (e.g., Cleft lip and Palate) where she discovered her passion for Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, Speech Sounds Disorders, development of Early Language and Literacy skills and overall facial development. Katarina also took extra course work in the area of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders and Myofunctional Therapy.

    Katarina’s passion for helping others with improving their oral-motor and communication skills began early on after graduating from California State University, San Marcos, when she began working at Southern California public schools. Her particular interest in Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, Speech Sounds Disorders, development of Early Language and Literacy skills led her to found a private practice which specializes in advocating and helping these clients & their families in Southern California.

    In addition, after gaining extensive experience during an internship at the Translational Institute in La Jolla in the area of Accent Modification and Pronunciation, she also developed a competency in training non-native speakers who were interested in improving their overall communication naturalness and comprehensibility.

    Katarina lives with her husband Bryce and their two sons in Bonita, California. Katarina and Bryce both met in San Diego while serving on active duty in the military. Katarina’s son had many difficulties with typical development and struggled to thrive when young. It was not until she began to piece her extensive knowledge together that she discovered he suffered from myofunctional disorder, disordered sleep, feeding disorder, and a language disorder. Being turned away by many providers dismissing her concerns, Katarina recognized the need to advocate for these services here in Southern California and started her private practice to help others who are new on their journey.  

Today, Bonita Speech Services utilize evidence-based, personalized services, specifically tailored to our clients’ and their families’ individualized needs.
